Yoga with Matt
Since becoming a yoga teacher in 2007, Matt has been teaching regular yoga classes on the Central Coast and for a large part of this time he owned and taught from his yoga studio at Noraville. Now Matt is taking teaching into the community by teaching at the local gym and in the schools. During this time Matt’s yoga teaching style has developed and evolved and this has been an amazing journey.
Matt has a clear idea of what yoga is based upon his experience and training in India, which is the only culture to retain the ancient teachings and science of yoga, and his own personal experience.

Style of Yoga
Matt teaches a style of Yoga based upon traditional Hatha Yoga as taught by
, whilst drawing on influences from Ashtanga and Ki Yoga. In simple terms this means poses (asanas) are taken from various groups comprising; forward bends, backward bends, twists, balances and inverted asanas. There is a hint of athletic and gymnastics to Matt’s classes. The physical postures are combined with breathing exercises (pranayama) and meditation practices to provide an overall balanced and holistic yoga experience.
Meditation and Relaxation
Matt has training and experience in meditation and relaxation techniques which can either be combined in a yoga practice or can be done separately. These skills and practices are drawn from ancient Tantric Practices as taught by

relaxation and meditation is one such practice, which is a systematic method of inducing complete mental, emotional and physical relaxation.
The aim in meditation is to quiten the mind and connect with the higher mind where intuition and higher knowledge abounds. The benefits of meditation are numerous including; full deep body relaxation, release of inner physical, mental & emotional tensions, increased one-pointedness and concentration and development of higher self and knowledge.
Yoga Cleansing Practices
Matt advocates the cleansing aspects of Hatha Yoga, which comprise of specific purification and detoxifying practices such as Neti, Kunjal and Lagoo. These practices use warm salty water to cleanse and purify the bod. Hatha Yoga is employed to purify the body before taking to the practices of mediation and it aims to balance the energy flow (male & female aspect) resulting in improved health and expanding the consciousness.
